The USAID Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH), a collaboration led by CARE Nepal in partnership with the Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON), Howard Delafield International (HDI), Jhpiego, and Nepal CRS Company, was an adolescent co‑led initiative that empowered girls and boys aged 10–19, including the most marginalized, to attain their adolescent reproductive health (ARH) rights. The program’s goal had been to support adolescents in reaching their full potential by ensuring they received correct and appropriate reproductive health (RH) information, guidance for decision‑making skills, creating an environment conducive to making healthy reproductive health decisions, and facilitating the translation of these decisions into healthy behaviors.

The ARH project was implemented in 11 districts and 60 municipalities of Madhesh Province, Lumbini Province, and Karnali Province.

Nepal CRS Company led the private sector engagement and engaged 275 private sector pharmacies, polyclinics, and hospitals to improve technical capacity in promoting adolescent‑responsive products and services.

1. Capacity Building: 
   CRS enhanced the ability of private sector pharmacies, polyclinics, and private hospitals to provide reproductive health services tailored to adolescents. This included training service providers to ensure they offered appropriate care and counseling to young people.
2. Data Recording and Reporting:

CRS strengthened the capacity of these private providers in data recording and reporting through the National Health Management Information System (HMIS). This aimed to improve the availability of data for decision‑making and program improvement.

3. Public‑Private Collaboration:
   CRS fostered collaboration between the public and private sectors through quarterly review meetings with municipalities and joint monitoring visits by local government (palika) officials. This enhanced the governance of reproductive health service delivery and increased local ownership of health services.
